With more than 35 yrs of experience in the music and interactive industries, Dick Wingate is Principal at DEV Advisors (Digital Entertainment Ventures) and acts as a bridge between the technology and entertainment industries -- providing digital business strategy, content acquisition and licensing, access to key relationships, market & product development. He also serves as President of BHI Music Group, an independent music label. He served as President, Media Development & Chief Content Officer for Nellymoser, an early provider of rich media mobile apps, overseeing content & business development strategies, working closely with major media co's & wireless service providers. He helped pioneer the digital music business during his years as SVP, Content Dev, at Liquid Audio, Inc., playing an integral role in the company's 1999 IPO, and was responsible for managing music business development, label relations, affiliate mgmt and music programming. He has also served as President, Content & Programming for DTM, Inc., an interactive systems provider for in-store delivery of digital products for clients incl McDonald's & 7-11. Wingate's experience in the record industry includes positions as SVP, Marketing, Arista Records; SVP, A&R, PolyGram Records; Director, Talent Acquisition, Epic Records; Director, Product Mgmt, Columbia Records. He has been involved with the career development of artists incl Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Peter Tosh, Aimee Mann, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Robert Cray, Sarah McLachlan and & Eddy Grant. He was one of the earliest music industry supporters of digital interactive media, and in the early 90's held the position of VP, Market Dev for Intouch, developer of the i-Station, the first networked, interactive music- previewing kiosk for record stores. Wingate started his career at WBRU-FM in Providence RI, as Music & Program Director while still at Brown University and has spoken at industry events, including: CTIA, Digital Hollywood, Digital Music Forum, Billboard Live, Plug-In, CMJ, Midem, Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse, Business Week & SXSW conferences. He has been featured in the NYTimes Sunday Business section, the LA Times, and quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, USA Today, NYTimes Magazine and Billboard. He is advisor to companies including CrowdMix, Songza, MindPix, BAMM.tv, Music X-Ray, Mixi.fm, FreeAllMedia, StudioOne Media, Moshcam, Cava Capital and Digital Entertainment Ventures and is a 30 year voting member of NARAS (Grammys).
