Aaron Solowoniuk

Drummer (Billy Talent) & Founder of F.U.M.S.,
Billy Talent
Toronto, Canada
“I started the F.U.MS Event series in 2006. When I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1997, the support groups available didn't suite me at all,” says Aaron. “I thought I would ask some bands to play a charity show to raise funds for youth based programs with the MS Society. I got over whelming support from my peers and Warner Music Canada. Many things came after that concert in 2006, including F.U.MS concerts, golf tournaments, axe throwing and the Cut To The Drummer art show.

Among Aaron’s other accomplishments for MS are a scholarship program that lasted two years; someonelikeme.ca, a blogging site for young people with MS; and Camp for Kids. “This is the best — a camp for youth with MS to hang out with other youth with MS,” he says. “I've been lucky to attend the camp when my tour schedule permits. I've got to see these kids not let MS get in the way of being kids. As they’ve gotten older, I've had them volunteer at F.U.MS events.”
