SiriusXM executive changes as Jim Meyer steps down — new CEO and CFO incoming

Jim Meyer

On December 31 SiriusXM CEO Jim Meyer will leave the company. Replacing him will be Jennifer C. Witz, currently Director of Sales.

Simultaneously, Sirius CFO David J. Frear will step away, his role to be filled by Sean Sullivan, currently CFO of AMC Networks.

Meyer has been CEO of SiriusXM for eight years. He said he had been contemplating the move: “My decision to retire has long been in the works, and now is the right time to begin this transition.”

“This company has never been in a better position,” Meyer said. “We have transformed our business, growing SiriusXM and its offerings, welcoming the team from Pandora through our game changing combination and increasing our scale in podcasting with Simplecast and the pending acquisition of Stitcher.”

From Jennifer Witz: “I am honored to take on the role of CEO and lead SiriusXM at this exciting time,” said Witz. “It has been an extraordinary privilege working with Jim and learning from him over the years. SiriusXM has tremendous opportunities ahead.”

Sirius is expecting 2020 revenue to land in the neighborhood of $7.7B, more than twice as much as when Meyer took the CEO role, according to The Wrap.
