Today, the Prism Prize, which recognizes outstanding artistry in Canadian music videos, announced the Grand Prize and Audience Award winners for its eight annual edition.
This year, Jessie Reyez took home the Grand Prize with a cash reward of $20,000 for her video for “Far Away,” which was directed by Peter Huang. The fan-voted Audience Award went to directors Kevin Yazdani and Sean Brown for Daniel Caesar and Koffee’s music video for “CYANIDE REMIX.”
“Music Videos offer the unique opportunity to add depth and meaning to a song for an unforgiving look at the world at large,” the Canadian Academy VP of Programming & Awards and Prism Prize Founder Louis Calabro explains. “We could not be more honoured to crown Peter Huang’s ‘Far Away’ the 2020 Prism Prize Grand Prize winner, a video that is an unfortunate representation of reality for many people.”
