Fruzsina Szép has assumed the role of managing director of Superbloom, the new festival from German promoter Goodlive.

Superbloom was scheduled to premiere in Munich’s Olympic Park this summer, Sept. 5-6, with a lineup that included Miley Cyrus, Liam Payne, David Guetta, DJ Snake, German class acts AnnenMayKantereit, Alice Merton, Max Herre and the Drunken Masters.
Szép and her team, which includes Julia Gudzent (booking), Steven Kruijff (production), and Jule Kauert (project management), expected 45,000 visitors for the premiere until the event ban imposed by the German government in reaction to Covid sealed the fate of the entire festival summer.
The new dates are Sept. 4-5, 2021, and the plan still is to transform Munich’s scenic Olympiapark, which also comprises the Olympic Stadium, intoa world of art, culture, diversity, lifestyle, society, research and development, sustainability and science – alongside national and international live acts, who have yet to be confirmed.
“The creation of this cultural experience offers more than music; it also deals with the current topics of the still very young decade, redefining the music festival concept and creating a new festival experience for people of all different backgrounds and age groups,” a press release states.
Fruzsina Szép, managing director of Superbloom Festival, competed: “I will dedicate my entire expertise, passion, attention to detail and creativity to the exciting challenge as managing director and festival director of Superbloom within the Goodlive GmbH.”
That expertise includes seven years as program director of one of Europe’s largest and most beloved festivals, Sziget in Budapest, Hungary, where Szép was born, before fleeing communist Eastern Europe and growing up in Munich.
For the last five years she was the festival director of Lollapalooza Berlin, were she accomplished the feat of moving to four different locations four years in a row, essentially creating a new festival from scratch each year.
Szép founded the Hungarian Music Export Office and is co-founder of Take A Stand, a movement that promotes respect, tolerance and diversity in the music industry. She also developed the EU project CEETEP (Central-Eastern European Talent Exchange Program).
Szép is a board member of Yourope, the European Festival Association. She has won multiple awards, including a European Festival Award for Excellence & Passion and the French national honor Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
