Eardrum launches Australia-first audio festival Earfest

Earfest is coming to your eardrums this September, bringing original works from thirty writers, actors, comedians, poets and performers to listeners throughout September.

Australia’s first audio-centric arts festival is the brainchild of audio specialist agency Eardrum, who are marking their 30th anniversary supporting the creative community.

Each day in September, one original piece of audio from a diverse mix of poets, comedians, musicians and actors will be released to attendees/listeners.

“Covid-19 has devastated the art’s sector,” Eardrum Founder Ralph van Dijk says.

“This festival allows us to celebrate the power of audio but more importantly support those with the skills to harness it at the time they need it most.”

Each original audio item lasts no longer than seven minutes, and admission is free with registration, but voluntary donations can be made to hearing charity The Shepherd Centre.

With several names still to be announced, the lineup so far includes Cold Chisel’s Phil Stack & Ian ‘Mossy’ Moss, singer-songwriter Ruel, AFTRS Podcast Scholarship Winner Nicola Sitch, documentary maker John Safran, Frank Sinatra impersonator Frank Bennett, Beep FM founder Tristan Viney and more.

Check out the full lineup at the official Earfest 2020 website.
