“We are delighted to have Crispin joining Canadian Music Week! His extensive live music background makes him the perfect candidate for the role of Festival Manager,” Says Neill Dixon, President of Canadian Music Week.
As Director of Programming and Creative Director at North By Northeast (NXNE) from 2007-2015, Crispin Giles has extensive experience producing and programming large-scale events that garner international attention. Leading NXNE’s programming dept. through what are arguably the festival’s biggest growth years, Giles maintains a forward-thinking approach to festival programming building exciting opportunities with both emerging and world-class talent while curating live projects with global brands.
Always looking for creative methods of producing new work, upon leaving NXNE in 2015 Giles co-founded Endless City; a platform for presenting cultural events and collaborative programming initiatives that bridge a multitude of disciplines. In Sept. 2016 Endless City launched Toronto’s first annual FORMS Festival which addressed the current state of convergence in the creative sector and urbanism/city-building arenas.
Continuing to collaborate with progressive stakeholders in the creative community, Giles has been active as a contributing guest curator for Red Bull Sound Select Toronto, an invited speaker on the future of the Music City at the Pemberton Music Festival Summit and contributing programmer at Noise Pop 2015 in San Francisco and TEDxToronto 2016. Giles is also the founding member of international photography group Tiny Collective.
“CMW is a pivotal live and industry event in the busy Toronto market. I’m really excited to join the awesome team at the festival and be part of making the 2017 season a great success,” Says Crispin Giles.
