LIA developed the base of her sound at 16, crafting acoustic-laid stories on her father’s old guitar in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. After moving to Montreal for uni, LIA enveloped herself in the city’s electronic music scene and dispelled her academic background to develop production skills and refine her sound. Now LIA grows a universe through her words, voice, and compositions, drawing influence from artists such as Feist, Banks, Bon Iver and James Blake.

Over the summer and fall of 2017 LIA released four singles under Parisian label Nowadays Records. Her first single, an energy-infused, cinematic electronic gem titled Shiver, broke 1 million Youtube views in the first year. Two of LIA’s fifteen collaborations also quickly peaked within their first year of release: Distant with Clement Bazin now at 8 million Spotify streams along with I Promise with Fossa Beats and Thomas White at 6 million. In 2018, LIA was invited to perform in Montreal, New York City and Singapore for MURAL Festival, Bar Datcha, NYC label Key + Needle and Singaporean label Super Snacks.

With this momentum, LIA finished her debut Vasilia EP co-produced with Montreal’s Lust and Thomas White. Drawing inspiration from the slavic folk tale of Baba Yaga, Vasilia depicts Lia’s journey of finding resilience in the mind, resilience as a woman and resilience in her relationships. LIA’s releases of 2019 have so far garnered her support from Nakid Magazine, Flaunt Magazine, Colors x Studios, Future Classic, Madame Gandhi, Dummy Magazine and landed her at #1 on Hype Machine’s Popular chart. From her own releases to collaborations, 2019 saw LIA featured in Spotify editorial playlists including Brain Food, New Music Friday Canada, New Music Friday Norway, Evening Commute, Outliers, Electrindie, Indie All Stars and Montreal Chill. With the finalization of her live show, LIA has been invited to perform by Phi Center, Green Room Stories, SSENSE, POP Montreal, M4MTL and Indieweek.
