Jim (JJ) Johnston left the County for a radio career 38 years ago. After all these years, a job in radio developed which allowed JJ to live in the County full time again. His stops along the way included starting his on-air career in Kingston, and piloting the airwaves at some of the biggest radio station in the country: CFGO, CKLW, CFTR and CITI-FM. He’s been GM of Corus Radio Toronto, Corus Radio Vancouver, and VP of Programming for Standard Broadcasting and Moffat Communications. He is now GM of Corus Radio Ontario East overseeing several markets including Barrie, Collingwood, Peterborough, Kingston and Cornwall

JJ has won Canada’s Program Director of the Year Award nine times in a variety of formats. JJ is a “Paul Harris Fellowship” which is the highest Rotary club honour. JJ and his wife Leafa of 33 years have two sons: Jay and Geordan. Geordan is an account executive for Corus Radio Toronto and JJ’s nephew Jesse Johnston is a news reporter for News 1130 in Vancouver.
