Jim (JJ) Johnston is GM of Corus Radio Ontario East overseeing the Barrie, Collingwood, Peterborough, Kingston and Cornwall markets. JJ has “lived” Radio for the past thirty-eight years. JJ’s previous positions include successful runs as; GM of Corus Radio Toronto, GM of Corus Radio Vancouver, GM and P.D. of Mix 99.9 Toronto, VP of Programming for Standard Broadcasting, National Program Director for Moffat Communications and National Rock Program Director for WIC.. He started his career in Kingston, and piloted the airwaves at a number of stations including CFGO, CKLW, CFTR and CITI-FM.

Over the years he has served on the BBM Board, CAB board, Advertising Standards Canada Board, Vancouver’s Board of Trade and is VP of the BCAB and several years at FACTOR, where he was Chairman of the Board from 1997 to 1999. JJ has won Canada’s Program Director of the Year Award nine times in a variety of formats. JJ is a “Paul Harris Fellowship” which is the highest Rotary club honour and a fourteen time marathoner. JJ and his wife Leafa of 33 years have two sons: Jay and Geordan. JJ’s nephew Jesse Johnston is in the radio business working as a news reporter for News 1380 in Vancouver.
