Lorie Russell

General Manager,
boom 973/93-5 The Move

Toronto, ON, Canada

As General Manager of Newcap Radio Toronto, responsibilities include driving strategy and overseeing the management and development of the Toronto team.
Lorie is a graduate of the Business/Marketing program from Conestoga College, and has enjoyed 29 years in radio in various capacities.

Her radio career began in national sales in 1987. She later joined the Standard Radio team in 1991 as a member of a newly created “in-house” national sales team for Newstalk1010/MIX999.

In 1995, she was appointed V.P. National Sales and in 2000, moved to become General Sales Manager for MIX999. This position would eventually evolve into a GSM role, for Newstalk1010, Virgin Radio and boom973 following the sale to Astral Media.

Her experience at Bell Media, allowed for the addition of a sports based property TSN radio, to add to her sales portfolio. Then Newcap called…
“I have enjoyed many great moments in the radio business. I have met some incredibly talented people along the way that are responsible for fueling my love of the biz. Vision passion and seeing all things possible, are guiding pillars to success”.

In addition to her efforts with Radio Trailblazers, an organization that celebrates woman in radio, Lorie was Associate Professor at Humber College and remains on the advisory panel as council and mentor to students.

Travel, a great glass of wine, music (really, really loud) and time with her daughter Emily, now 20, are a few of the things that keep her smiling.
