Panel Discussion

The Future of Artist Management

Since the inception of the new music ecosystem, the creative community has never been so diverse, so versatile and so productive. In a multipolar and multicultural world, in an open music market that allows any creator to reach it’s audience through social media and the associated marketing tools are artist managers in charge of artist development? As we are witnessing a transfer of risks, both entrepreneurial and financial, towards the manager? Are managers the new entrepreneurs, setting up and managing labels, publishing companies, organizing tours for up-and-coming new acts?

This session will highlight the new challenges that the artists’ managers are facing in a 360° environment were the value gap, the financing of creation and creative industries, the connection to tech start ups and service companies, the exploitation of data, the need for more fairness and transparency, the circulation of creators and their works, access to media are, among others, key issues the new music ecosystem is confronted to.
