UNESCO Cities of Music - Is It Time For A North American Member?

Seventeen cities around the world share the distinction of being a UNESCO Creative City of Music, one subset of The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) which was created in 2004 to “promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development.”

North America is the proud home of many Music Cities, but not one UNESCO City of Music (in fact, there are very few UNESCO Creative Cities in North America at all).

With a presumably wide open field, how do cities go about receiving a designation, what are the benefits of the network, and what kind of commitment is needed to maintain the status?
An international panel of UNESCO Cities of Music will share their stories and secrets for success.
