IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE WORLD OF SONGWRITING AT THE NEW SONGWRITERS’ WORKSHOPS
Canadian Music Week, in association with Astral Radio, is offering songwriters an in-depth look into the world of songwriting at the New Songwriters’ Workshops. Touring across Canada from September 29 to October 28, 2012, these intuitive clinics are designed to provide aspiring artists and songwriters with information, inspiration and an outlet for broadening their creative processes.

Artists will have the opportunity to hear from top-selling and multiple-award winning songwriters – Arnold Lanni (“Clumsy”, “When I’m With You”), Tom Wilson (Lee Harvey Osmond, Black and The Rodeo Kings, Junkhouse), and James Black and Rick Jackett (Blackie Jackett Jr, Finger Eleven) – as well as industry specialists from music publishing, music supervision and radio programming, who will be on hand to lead the workshops, listen to demos and participate in a Q&A period. Attendees will find out first hand how to get their songs into hit TV shows, films, games and advertisements from top music supervisors – Natalia Romiszewski (Director of Music Strategy and Business Development, Man Made Music), Rebecca Rienks (Music Supervisor, E! Entertainment | NBC Universal), Barry Cole (President, Spot Music) and Dave Curtin (Partner / Creative Director, DeepMix) – learn the techniques to constructing a song, writing a hit lyric, as well as understand the role of SOCAN and revenue streams.
The New Songwriters’ Workshops are a preamble to the Radio Star National Talent Search (launching in October) and are part of Canadian Music Week’s ongoing initiative to develop Canadian emerging artists. Admission to the workshops is $40 in advance, with discounts available for members of SOCAN and the Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC). Registration is limited to capacity and is open now to songwriters through the Radio Star website – www.radiostar.ca.
