TORONTO, ON – (January 22, 2014) – A prolific artist in his own right, Dallas Green has emerged as one of Canada’s most reputable musical talents. His distinct vocals, stirring lyrics and introspective brand of rock have defined a new generation of aspiring musicians, drawing praise from critics and admiration from fans around the world. On Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Canadian Music Week, the acclaimed musician – best recognized as the man who writes, records and performs under the moniker of City and Colour – will take the spotlight in a special in-depth conversation with Matt Wells, host of M3 COUNTDOWN on the newly rebranded M3.  Green’s appearance coincides with a headlining performance at the Air Canada Centre on Friday, May 9, 2014, part of a national tour seeing Green perform the largest indoor venues he has ever headlined in Canada.

Dallas Green began recording as City and Colour in 2005 with the release of Sometimes, followed by 2008’s Bring Me Your Love and 2011’s Little Hell which also debuted at #1. All three releases went on to achieve platinum status in Canada, with Little Hell selling Gold in Australia as well. The success of Little Hell set the stage for a string of sold out shows throughout 2011 and 2012 – including the famed Royal Albert Hall in the UK.

Green’s latest and most anticipated fourth studio album The Hurry and The Harm debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart in Canada this past June, marking City and Colour’s best debut in Canada to date, outselling its forerunner Little Hell. International success has quickly followed suit, with the album debuting at a career high #16 in the US, #4 in Australia, #32 in the UK and #83 in Germany. Lead single “Thirst” also shot to #1 on the BDS Modern Rock and Mediabase Alternative charts – a first for Green.

Green’s talents have further been lauded with critically acclaimed performances and sold-out tours of the UK, Canada, US, Europe and Australia.  Recently announced to perform at Coachella 2014 and Firefly Music Festival, City and Colour has previously performed at Bonnaroo, Coachella, Sasquatch, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and Glastonbury Festival.  Most recently, Green has sold-out headlining performances at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park (New York, NY), The Ryman Auditorium (Nashville, TN), The Fox Theatre (Oakland, CA), Orpheum Theatre (Boston, MA), and 2 consecutive sold-out shows at The Fillmore (Detroit, MI).  Green has amassed multiple award recognitions, including three JUNO awards, a MuchMusic Video Award as well as multiple category nominations in each.

A co-founder, guitarist and vocalist of the platinum-selling post-hardcore act Alexisonfire for 11 years, Green departed the band in 2011 to focus on his solo career.

With well over 2,000 interviews under his belt, music journalist Matt Wells has earned rave reviews for his insightful, well-researched approach. As the face of M3, he combines his years of experience as a songwriter, performer, and actor to find a special connection with the thousands of musicians and celebrities he has come face to face with.

In this exclusive one-on-one, Wells will guide Green through a reflective look into his career, elicit anecdotes of his experiences and travels around the world, and bring to light the enigma behind one of Canada’s most fascinating indie artists.

This celebrity interview is open to all CMW delegates and registered showcasing artists. A limited number of tickets to this individual session are also available for purchase.
