CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK ANNOUNCES CELEBRITY INTERVIEW:
QUINCY JONES
SATURDAY, MAY 10TH PRESENTED BY JAZZ.FM91
NIKKI YANOFSKY SET TO PERFORM NEW MATERIAL FROM HER ALBUM EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY JONES, LITTLE SECRET
THURSDAY, MAY 8TH and FRIDAY, MAY 9TH
TORONTO, ON – (March 25, 2014) With a career spanning six decades, 79 Grammy nominations and 27 Grammys, including a Grammy Legend Award, the world-renowned Quincy Jones has made countless contributions to the entertainment industry as an American record producer, conductor, arranger, composer, television producer, film producer, instrumentalist, magazine founder, record company executive, humanitarian, and jazz trumpeter.
On Saturday, May 10th as part of the 2014 Music Summit, Canadian Music Week presents a Celebrity Interview with Jones, covering his vast list of accomplishments, contributions
and endless anecdotes comprising his career. The interview will take place from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, and will be conducted by Ross Porter, Canadian broadcast executive of JAZZ.FM91, music authority, event producer, and published author. Porter was named to the Order of Canada in 2013 for his contributions to broadcasting.
Jones, who has been bridging gaps between jazz and pop since the ‘60s, has teamed up with Nikki Yanofsky as executive producer and co-manager of the jazz-pop sensation. Having collaborated on her recent release Little Secret (released via A440 Entertainment/Universal Music Canada, May 6th), the two make a likely pairing as the album combines pop-song structures with sophisticated harmonies, club-ready beats with punchy big-band horns, and ear worm hooks with scat-singing solos. Jones looks forward to introducing Yanofsky’s at her shows on May 8th and 9th at Kool Haus and Revival, respectively.
“For many years now, it has been both my dream and my goal to inspire young people to recognize and appreciate jazz and blues,” said Jones. “Nikki Yanofsky is a leading voice in a generation of young artists who are bringing the quality of music back up. Little Secret is the result of years of hard work, and her stab at bringing her influences to her own generation. I’m proud to be her executive producer and excited for the world to hear this album.”
The celebrity interview is open to all CMW delegates and registered showcasing artists.
A limited number of tickets to this individual session are also available for purchase. To attend this exclusive one-on-one with Quincy Jones, visit the Canadian Music Week website – www.cmw.net – to register for your delegate pass or to purchase your ticket.
