Short: “I think when I’m performing live, it’s really just the realest me there is,” says Bill Callahan (Smog) in this wonderful tour film that features intimate interviews and performances from the notoriously private Callahan’s 2011 tour.

Long: “I think when I’m performing live, it’s really just the realest me there is,” says Bill Callahan (Smog) in this wonderful tour film that features intimate interviews and performances from the notoriously private Callahan’s 2011 tour.

Director, Hanly Banks describes his film almost perfectly by saying, “Here is a concert film/tour documentary/psychedelic thingamajig with musician Bill Callahan and his band. It is a collection of performances and a cross-section of scenes from the road on the U.S. leg of the apocalypse tour. More than that, it is a rare glimpse into the tour van windows of an important American songwriter.”

Short: A short documentary contrasting the Northern Lights with decaying manmade debris surrounding the Arctic Canadian town of Churchill, Manitoba. The film features an original score by Jim O’Rourke, a voice-over by Will Oldham and likely some of the best footage of the aurora borealis ever captured.
