Fraser Hill

Frazietrain Productions Inc
Toronto, ON, Canada
One of Canada’s most well-respected A&R leaders, Fraser Hill, began a new chapter in his life after 21 years working at Universal and EMI Music with his new company: frazietrain productions, Inc. It’s an independent music consulting venture specializing in Artist and Repertoire Consulting and Artist Development across all genres, for artists both signed and unsigned.

In mid-2017, Fraser was hired as the A&R-Director of Casting for The Launch, a joint production between Bell Media and Big Machine Label Group. In Canada, the inaugural season of The Launch debuted #1 in its timeslot on CTV and delivered a series of consecutive #1 hits. The series’ original songs have already surpassed 4 million streams worldwide and continue to grow. The Launch is now distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television.

Fraser was also the consulting A&R on Utopia, Serena Ryder's follow-up to her previous Platinum record, Harmony, which he also A&R’d as well as 2017 Juno-Nominated Donovan Woods.

In the past five years, Fraser has enjoyed significant success with Juno-winners Serena Ryder, Dear Rouge (Juno Award winners for Best Breakthrough Group), Shawn Hook, July Talk as well as the CCMA-nominated artist Wes Mack as well as Nikki Yanofsky and her Gold-selling album, Little Secret.

Fraser oversaw every step of one of the most successful and significant albums in the past five years, Serena Ryder’s Triple Platinum-selling Harmony yielding the triple Platinum-selling single “Stompa” and the Platinum-selling single “What I Wouldn’t Do”. Both singles enjoyed multi-format radio charting success. An unheralded achievement! Additionally, Fraser recently oversaw the release of her Gold-selling single, “Got Your Number”. He also delivered Shawn Hook’s Platinum-selling single "Sound of Your Heart".

Fraser A&R'd recordings by Nikki Yanofsky, Alan Doyle, and Boots and Hearts’ winner James Barker Band with their debut single, "Lawn Chair Lazy". This release has become the highest charting debut Country single ever by a Canadian Artist, after which James Barker Band signed with Universal Music Canada. Both “Lawn Chair Lazy” and “Chills” by James Barker Band were certified Gold in Canada.

Fraser began his career in music placing stock recordings in film and TV productions. He then began freelance engineering and co-producing artists like Red Rider, Tom Cochrane, The Grapes of Wrath, and Anne Murray. Venturing forward, Fraser formed Mighty Music Entertainment with agent Ed Smeall and co-managed The Northern Pikes together. Fraser, along with long-time partner Rick Hutt, co-produced and engineered several of their Gold and Platinum recordings including Snow In June, granting them a Juno Nomination for Engineer of the Year.

Fraser started in A&R as a Manager of A&R and worked his way up to Senior Director of A&R at EMI Music Canada where he was responsible for signing Platinum artists Serena Ryder, These Kids Wear Crowns, Kreesha Turner and Shawn Hook.

Additionally, he oversaw A&R for award-winning artists including Stabilo, David Usher, Sarah Brightman, Anne Murray and The Watchmen, as well as being involved in the signing of Toronto-based label Sleepless Records, where he worked alongside President Alex Bonenfant to deliver Juno-winning Gold artist, July Talk.
