Christine Hunter
Christine is currently the Talent Manager for the world renowned Shambhala Music Festival, a 10,000 person 6 day outdoor electronic music festival that takes place every August on a family ranch in the rural and remote Kootenay mountains of British Columbia, Canada. The integral value she brings to her work is to ensure each and every performer should have a positive experience in all their interactions with Shambhala. As such she manages the execution of all aspects of performance contracts from procurement through fulfillment, as well as trains and supervises Staff and Volunteers to offer the highest quality of service. Christine has been with Shambhala since 2009 when she joined the festival as one of their first “Flying Monkeys”(Festival Production Assistant).
As the daughter of a music festival producer in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Christine has lived, volunteered and worked in the music festival environment most of her life. She completed post-secondary programs in Events and Convention Management and International Tourism and Hospitality Management at Holland College, PEI and went on to work as Festival Assistant, Volunteer Co-ordinator and Cruise Ship Ambassador for Charlottetown’s Capital Commission – producers of a wide variety of summer festivals and events. And that was just the beginning.
Christine’s enthusiasm for the live music scene doesn’t allow for much downtime. She served as a juror on 2 panels for the 2012 Kootenay Music Awards and the 2011 BC Music Awards. Since coming to Nelson she has also worked in the capacities of Venue Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Artist Hospitality and Transportation, Front of House, Tickets and Security for the likes of PK Sounds Bass Cannon & Snowblower, Kelowna’s Pop Okanagan, & Breakout West Music Festival, and on film production.
Prior to relocating to Nelson Christine fulfilled roles for a number of festivals and events throughout British Columbia including: Coordinator of the International Cultural Festival and Ceremonies for the Cowichan 2008 North American Indigenous Games, two years in a variety of roles with the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Folk Festival, Administrator for the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Volunteer Coordinator for the Victoria Jazz Festival, Venue and Stage Manager for VANOC’s Four Host First Nations Olympics 2010, and Box Office Manager for the Vancouver International Film Festival.
Christine’s music passions include hiphop, glitch, dub, dnb, dubstep, juke, ghettotech - anything with bass for that matter – all of which led her to establish her own company, FOREAL Productions. At FOREAL Productions, Christine produces and promote live shows and provide the tour management necessary to make it all happen – booking, transportation, accommodation, settlements, riders, publicity, budgets and all aspects of contract administration for Canadian and foreign artists. And this is only the beginning…..
