Jay Rosenthal practices Entertainment/Copyright Law in Washington, D.C., specializing in public policy, transactional, and litigation matters. For the past seven years, Mr. Rosenthal served as Senior VP and General Counsel at the National Music Publishers’ Association. Prior to joining NMPA, Mr. Rosenthal was a partner with the law firm of Berliner, Corcoran & Rowe, and served as General Counsel to the Recording Artists' Coalition, which was founded by Don Henley and other prominent featured recording artists. Mr. Rosenthal’s past and present clients include actor David Bautista, Thievery Corporation, ESL Music, Rare Essence, Salt N Pepa, Mya, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Robert Schimmel, and Robert Berks.

Mr. Rosenthal teaches Entertainment Law at Georgetown and GW Law Schools. He is a Trustee of the Copyright Society of the United States, a former Copyright Alliance Board Member, and a founding SoundExchange Board Member. He has authored numerous articles and lectures extensively on music/copyright law.
