Tracy joined the CD Baby team in 2010 as Chief Operating Officer and became CEO in May of 2012. He has led the company during a period of rapid growth, focusing on rolling out new products and services that enable artists to self-manage their music careers; make money from their music and communicate directly with fans.

CD Baby now distributes more than 6 million independent music tracks for 400,000 artists (20% of the content available on Apple Music and Spotify!), offering a DIY platform for everything from physical CD distribution, direct and DSP downloads and streams to tools for effective social media promotion on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Artists using the CD Baby platform have earned over one-half a billion dollars since 1999.

In 2012 CD Baby launched its Sync and YouTube platform in partnership with Rumblefish that now represents over 2.5 million tracks and has paid out $5 million in incremental artist earnings. In 2013 CD Baby launched a publishing platform for independent songwriters, which now represents 300,000 compositions from 50,000 songwriters. In 2015 CD Baby partnered with Apple to help artists and songwriters get their music published on Apple Music and connect with their fans. Tracy is also responsible for HostBaby, which hosts websites for over 20,000 artists and bands all over the world.

Prior to joining CD Baby, Tracy’s career in technology and media distribution included positions at Intel and Logic General. He holds a BA from The University of Texas and an MBA in Finance and Information Systems from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
